Admission in a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya takes place on the basis of a Selection test designed and conducted by the CBSE.  The test is called the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test ( JNVST). It is of non –verbal nature, class neutral and so designed to ensure that talented children from rural areas are able to compete without facing any disadvantage.  Because of the inadequate communication facilities in areas, special care is taken to ensure that children from far flung areas get admission forms free of cost without any difficulty.  Sufficient publicity is done through doordarshan,  All India radio, local newspapers, pamphlets, visits of Principals and teachers of JNV to the local schools of the district.  As a result, people of rural areas are becoming aware of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme. 
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test-2009 (Class-VI)
 
JNV Selection test for admission to Class-VI in JNV for the academic session 2014-15 will be held on 06-02-2014. 
 
COMPOSITION OF THE TEST:
The medium of the Test (JNVST) is the medium through which the candidate studies and passed Class-V.

COMPOSITION OF TEST FOR CLASS-IX
 
Admission test has consists of questions of Class-VIII standard in the following subjects as per the weightage.  The test is conducted in objective/descriptive type with 3 hours duration without any break
